when the cars drive themselves
they'll declare elon musk
  the genius of our generation
even if it's 20 years after promised

when a computer correctly predicts
with immense datasets
with facial recognition
  the man that would later
    commit a crime
we'll rejoice!
and call it “intelligence”—
    modestly, artificial

for we're not God
  but God, we're close enough
imbuing the machine
with God-like judgement
relieving our poor human brains
  from earthly duties

God, take this off our shoulders
God, we can't be held responsible
  for the decisions the computer
makes

i'm so thankful he sent this cold-shower reminder of the new reality of our inevitable future. i want to join my ceo on the winning side of history, where he firmly stands, and to make sure that the ai coming for my job can very easily have it.

these days i wake
slow
slink out of bed to
bathroom and shoes
take the elevator down from
some strange room
to walk the city in
gray drizzle
blue cold
midtone wind tunnel

i keep a watch i don't look at
i hold a map i don't need
the new days are alive
all old days are dead
leave them in the tissue paper
and
fall in love
with solitude
